Don’t fall into the phishing bowl!

Phishing is a type of online fraud that involves tricking people into revealing personal information such as passwords, credit card numbers, and account details. The phisher may use an email, SMS, chat, or even a fake website that looks identical to a legitimate site in order to lure victims.

Once the phisher has the victim's information, they can use it to make unauthorized purchases, or even hijack the victim's account and steal their identity. This makes phishing a serious security threat and it's important to be aware of how it works in order to protect yourself.

To avoid falling into the trap, you should be alert and suspicious of any written communications that include urgent or unusual requests, typos or grammatical errors, asking you to click on a link or open an attachment to update your account information. If you are unsure of the authenticity of the company, DON’T REPLY, contact the company directly using a phone number or email address you know is real, such as their official website.

If you're ever prompted to enter sensitive information on a website or a company that you don’t recognize or it seems illegitimate, make sure you're on a trusted site by checking for https:// in the URL and looking for a green padlock icon. Also, be aware of offers that seem too good to be true, especially if they come from unexpected sources.
